Cabo De Rama is a very old fort which was taken over and renovated by the Portuguese. Inside the Fort there is church of St. Anthony which is in very good contion. Cabo De Rama Fort is totally ruined but the Church inside the Fort is in very good condition. It is painted with good color and some people come here to pray.
You can climb the ruined fort and see how the cliffs drop steeply to the sea providing a panoramic view of the whole area. There are a few canons lying here and there. The fort is very poorly maintained by Archaeological Survey of India, but no staff, no security and no tickets obviously. However staying till evening is risky as the caretaker might lock you from outside.
Cabo-de-Rama is situated about 18 kms from Agonda, 30 kms from Palolem and 30 kms from Margaon. You have to take your own/hired vehicle, whether car or scooter, as only one bus (in a day) goes from Canacona via a nearby road (4 kms) and only one bus (in a day) goes from margaon to Cabo de Rama. This is a less popular place and very less people visit here. However, this is a very adventurous place and views are also very interesting.
